Having suppressed the memories of her abduction, Agent Scully suddenly experiences an onrush of unpleasant and disturbing images from her ordeal. This coincides with Scully and Mulder's search for a serial killer with a hair fetish – Donnie Pfaster (Nick Chinlund). On this occasion, it is Mulder and not Scully who doubts that extraterrestrials are involved in the present case. Things come to a head when Scully is kidnapped.

Nick Chinlund, who reprised his role as Donnie Pfaster in the seventh-season episode ORISON, was a lucky last-minute casting find in one of his first roles. He'd made his TV debut in an episode of the cable anthology series Red Shoe Diaries and has since become a familiar face in movies and on such series as Third Watch and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
